What to expect from Vinyasa Yoga
'Those whose consciousness is unified abandon all attachment to the results of action and attain supreme peace.'
- The Bhagavad Gita, ch. 5, verse 12
Each one of my classes opens with a meditation where you're presented with the philosophical theme of that practice. I usually also include some breath-work, pranayama, or a visualisation exercise.
This is followed by some very gentle dynamic movement to warm up the major muscle groups and learn key alignment principles. We carry this through into a dynamic salutation sequence, namaskar, which builds heat in the body. The main portion of the class features a series of standing poses and core integration work to prepare you for the apex pose. I use deliberate verbal cueing and sensitive hands-on assists to guide you as you flow.
Having attempted the apex pose we surrender to longer held stretches and a slower, more introspective practice. We close with deep relaxation, Savasana.
I find that music enhances yoga practice so I set each class to an invigorating playlist. This ensures you leave feeling light, joyous and refreshed.
I enjoy Christina's yoga classes very much. They make me feel much more balanced, physically open and calmer. My focus on life has become clearer and more peaceful.'
